The ABC's of Delegation
by Joyce Kane, Cybertary, Pittsburgh

Do you know someone who desperately needs to learn how to delegate but just flat out can't?  Or even worse, won't?  Cybertary has pulled together a short tutorial to share with that harried individual to make their life a little less harried.  The tutorial starts with ABC

Analyze and Assign     Schedule some time in that busy schedule to review all of your daily, weekly, monthly tasks, ˜to-do's', routines and yes, even time wasters.  Put them on a  sheet of paper based on what you are good at or what you like to do cross referenced with those items that you can or cannot delegate.  You should have 4 quadrants at the end of the exercise, upper left with Good/Like /Can't Delegate, upper right with Good/Like/Can Delegate, lower left Not Good/Don't Like/Can't Delegate and lower right with Not Good/Don't Like/Can Delegate.   The analysis should generate something like this:

Good/Like/Can't Delegate
1.
2.
3.

Good/Like/Can Delegate
1.
2.
3.
Not Good/Don't Like/Can't Delegate
1.
2.
3.

Not Good/Don't Like/Can Delegate
1.
2.
3.

Be ruthlessly honest with yourself.  Pay close attention to those tasks where you make the proverbial excuse that it is just easier to do it myself .
Once you have your items listed in the quadrants, highlight or note those tasks that are not moving your business forward.  It could be that you are spending the time updating your contacts list instead of calling those contacts and making an appointment that could lead to a new sale. Or, you are organizing your receipts for tax time instead of invoicing your clients to generate cash flow.  Whatever you are spending your time on should be those responsibilities that will grow your business.  For any others, see the next step.

Begin the Balance   Here is where you take small steps it can seem like a tightrope, after all. Once you have analyzed and assigned the tasks, start to give some of those items in the lower right quadrant (Not Good At and Don't Like, but CAN Delegate) that are not contributing to growing your business to another person, either a trusted employee or a contractor.  By taking small steps, you start getting comfortable with the concept.  An added plus is that you don't like doing these jobs anyway.  Because you don't like them or aren't good at doing them, you have likely avoided tackling these responsibilities altogether.  With proper delegation, you have the opportunity to complete them by giving them to someone else to perform.
It can be enormously freeing to turn over the reins to someone whom you trust.  Ah, but you are saying, how do I find such a paragon?  Here is where Cybertary will put in a shameless plug.  Our network of virtual administrative professionals is poised to help you handle those tasks and help you get out from behind your desk, with a commitment to delivering quality, professional services.

Continue/Commit   Once you get your feet wet with delegation, you will find it surprisingly easy to continue.   Move through the list, tackling those items that you like to do and are good at, but that may not be propelling you or your business in a positive direction.  The time you have freed up by delegating the tasks that you can should be invested in those responsibilities that build your business.
Commit to reviewing the lists on a regular basis, perhaps monthly at first, then quarterly or semi-annually, as you continue to grow in your comfort level.  Add new tasks as they arise and continue to analyze and assess what you are doing and whether someone else could do them as well (or, horrors, better, faster, cheaper!).  You may also find tasks that simply do not need to be done anymore another WIN in the Quality of Life game.
Analyze and Assign, Begin the Balance, Continue/ Commit = the Primer to helping you grow your business through delegation of the tasks that are not helping you progress.  It's as easy as ABC!

New Roving Pittsburgher Reviews!

Roving Pittsburgher, Review of Homemade Food and Hometown Hospitality at PapaGallo's

Good News Reviewer Joanne Quinn-Smith aka TechnoGranny
When Chef Len Spampinato decided to open PapaGallo in July 2010, he realized that, in order to make PapaGallo a breakfast and lunch restaurant that would truly stand out, he could use only the freshest ingredients. To make a breakfast that really rises and shines means that he has to offer more than just the classics.

Roving Pittsburgher Review, "Salome", Not Just About "The Dance of the Seven Veils."

As the curtain goes up on the Pittsburgh Opera's 2016 presentation of Strauss's " Salome" the audience was immediately drawn in by the exquisite set design of Boyd Ostroff. Creating the illusion of fluidity and change in a one-act Opera is not easy, but between the beautiful bas-relief of the set design and the ever-changing mood reflected in the moon, the stage becomes a vibrant part of the productioN.

Roving Pittsburgher Report, Krampus Krawl, Alternative Christmas Experience

If you were in Market Square at the Holiday Market on December 5, 2016 from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm, you may have wondered if you were in a time warp that took you back to Halloween. Unsuspecting visitors to the Market Square Christmas Village were treated to a new kind of holiday experience.  Interspersed among the merry making shoppers and visitors were, creatures that appear to be the antithesis of Christmas.

Roving Pittsburgher, Review of Christmas's Favorite Nostalgia Show, " A Christmas Story, the Musical

A Christmas Story, The Musical chronicles young and bespectacled Ralphie Parker as he schemes his way toward the holiday gift of his dreams, an official Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-Shot Range Model Air Rifle (You'll shoot your eye out kid! ). An infamous leg lamp, outrageous pink bunny pajamas, a maniacal department store Santa, and a double-dog-dare to lick a freezing flagpole are just a few of the distractions that stand between Ralphie and his Christmas wish. Chock-full of delightful songs and splashy production numbers, A Christmas Story, The Musical has proudly taken its place as a perennial holiday classic for the whole family.

New Roving Pittsburgher Reviews!

RovingPittsburgher, Roving Pittsburgher Report, Fallen Woman Theme Inspires Once Again in "La Triviata."

by Hometown Tourist, Clarine Lizana

The story of a fallen woman with a noble heart has inspired theater and opera goers for centuries. The Pittsburgh Opera opened their 2016-2017 season this month with Verdi's La Traviata , as did the Florentine Opera. La Traviata translates as The Fallen Woman , a subject that may seem a little trite and sexist in this day and age. The heart of the story, however, deals with the life choices made by young people of every age, the decision to lead a life of hedonistic pleasure, or a life of true devotion.

Loudini Interviews Vijay of InRegalia

Born in Mangalore, Vijay's talent was imminent at an early age having won several local guitar and singing competitions. Music, though took a back seat for six years due to the pressure of academics. But destiny had other plans and brought him back to where he belonged - playing music. The journey from an acoustic folk guitarist to an accomplished Rock Lead/Rhythm guitarist has brought with it experience in Rock & Soul bands to which he blends in pop and ethnic sensibilities. Some of his guitar heroes and influences are Jimmy Page, Ritchie Blackmore and Angus Young. "The journey to musical fulfillment is endless " he says.

Tracked in an illegal Brooklyn apartment over a two year jaunt, the burnished urban organic art-rock of MXB, transmutes the listener's reality to madcap flights through a cosmic metropolis. Sounding like a glowing multi-colored back room of a dive bar, and you sitting there having imbibed some firey distillate, Diamond Hits mixes up a stylistic cocktail of back beat drum licks, distortion guitar groove, well turned lyrics and layered leather coat vocals.

Roving Pittsburgher Report, "39 Steps" is Non-Stop Hilarity!

If you want side splitting laugh a minute entertainment then see Tony Award Winning Hit Comedy thriller, "39 Steps" at the Cabaret Theater.  What an uproarious experience in minimalistic stage effects with maximum hilarity. Four players take you through the twists and turns of a comedic plot using 1940's or Mel Brooks type music spots to hi-light the intense "drama."  Sorry, no drama just madcap hysteria.

Mrs. Cardiology, Three Herbs to Help Heal Your Lymphatic System

Herbs are a great source which we can utilize to detoxify the lymphatic system and remove toxins. From the well known to the often obscure Ayurvedic, Mrs. Cardiology discusses three herbs to investigate that may help heal your lumphatic system.

The Loudini Rock 'n Roll Circus, Lou Lombardi

Loudini Interviews Alex Vans

Alex Vans had a really, really terrible idea for a business. He got a bunch of dudes, gave them instruments, and made them play stoner rock guitar riffs under smooth vocal pop hooks. He then had the shitty idea to record those sounds onto obsolete physical records and drive around the country in a van trying to sell the records in beer soaked taverns in front of surly bartenders. It was a truly horrible idea. And predictably, he failed miserably. If the definition of insanity is repeating the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, then you can count Alex Vans as among the truly mad. A mad-genius perhaps? No. But the new EP does kick ass.

Loudini Interviews Eddy Mann

Eddy Mann's a... musician, songwriter, worship leader, teacher, speaker, coach, husband, and father... whether you know him as one or more of these people, you know his heart; you know his love for life.

Loudini Interviews LUSH CAMP

Brooklyn, NY-based indie rock outfit Lushcamp makes alternative rock music that ignites the senses and captures the bittersweet flow of memories. The band?c??s debut album, Lushcamp features catchy guitar hooks and vivid lyrics that capture bandleader, guitarist and singer Paul Matarelli?c??s personal adventures. The album?c??s 10 tunes are a study of the dark and light in people and the colorful dimensions of vulnerable, flawed anti-heroes and the choices they make that shape their journey.

Mrs. Cardiology--Heart Tips Not Tricks, Sunita Pandit

Mrs. Cardiology, Four Detox Strategies to Improve Lymphatic System Function

The lymphatic system is very important to preventive health care. You have twice as much lymph fluid in your body as blood. The lymph continuously bathes each cell and drains away the junk in a circulatory system powered only by your breathing and movement. Imagine your local waste management trucks powered only by what's going on around them. If the movement of the lymph stopped entirely you would die in a matter of hours.! Now that Mrs. Cardiology hopefully woke you up to this stark reality, listen in to hear Four Detox Strategies to Improve Lymphatic System Function and improve your internal "health insurance."

San Francisco songstress Sharon Knight is a Celtic folk singer in leather armbands. She plays octave mandolin as if it were an electric guitar and sings as though she means to summon a storm. Her penchant for combining fierce and gutsy bravado with ethereal beauty, a hearty dose of fantastical lyrics, and an obvious love of storytelling has inspired her own musical style, ?c??Neofolk Romantique?c??. Although her musical foundations are solidly built on her Celtic heritage, Sharon has never been one to hold fast to tradition, preferring instead to look to her roots for inspiration and then chart her own path.

Loudini Rock and Roll Circus Podcast

Albany Down The Outer Reach - 2016-06-16 22:27:08.002-04

The Loudini Rock and Roll Circus Music Podcast
Hosted by Lou Lombardi aka Loudini & Katie Simone
Featured Album: Albany Down The Outer Reach

Lou and Katie discuss and play some samples from the new album London Rockers Albany Down. Featured artists are Albany Down,  Typhoid Rosie , and Dead27s

Albany Down
http://www.albanydownband.com/
London-based Albany Down are a contemporary rock band with influences ranging from classic acts like Led Zeppelin and Thunder to modern bands such as The Black Keys and Clutch.  They combine a vintage rock-blues sensitivity with a contemporary aggressive energy.

Albany Down are Paul Muir on vocals, guitarist Paul Turley, drummer Donna Peters and bassist Billy Dedman and they have already recorded two albums with award-winning producer Greg Haver (Manic Street Preachers, INME, Super Furry Animals).

These guys are really going somewhere; make sure they take you with them!" Paul Jones, BBC Radio 2

The band is a hard-working, road-tested outfit, which has been well received at various UK festivals including the Maryport International Rock and Blues Festival; The Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival (Colne); and The Great British Rock and Blues Festival (Skegness); as well as at venues like Barfly Camden and the legendary 100 Club.

< div style="text-align: justify;">In 2014, they toured the UK supporting New Jersey's Southside Johnny and The Asbury Jukes, which included the highlight of their year when they played at the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire.  This was followed by appearances at festivals in Belgium and the Netherlands before a very successful tour of Germany with The Brew.

Blues Rock Review offered a fair assessment of both the band and their 2011 debut album: South of the City is a solid debut album from Albany Down and they will be an interesting band to watch develop in the coming years .  The album clearly showcased what the band are capable of ranging from the superbly arranged Mercy to the low-down dirty, slide-led blues epic of the title track.

Their formidable second album, Not Over Yet , released in 2013, is full of their strongest songs, lingering melodies and great musicianship.  And where vocalist Paul Muir could previously have been compared to the likes of Paul Rodgers, he stamps his own personality on this album, while guitarist Paul Turley produces a virtuoso impassioned performance.  Traditionally a band's second album is regarded as being problematical but Albany Down turned that notion on its head.

Their live show never disappoints.  The band run on pure adrenalin, unrelenting energy and raw emotion and soon have any crowd entranced.  The music is based on thunderous guitar riffs and pounding drums juxtaposed with soulful, soaring, emotionally-charged ballads.

Rock blogger Neil Mach p robably got it right, when he recently described the band; As hot as volcanic ash and yet as cool as snow slippers.

Not Over Yet is an aptly titled album and an accurate barometer of a band on the up-escalator currently tearing up venues around the UK and Europe.  Having already generated over 7,500 Facebook fans, the band are due to start work on their third studio album in 2015.

Both Albany Down albums, South of The City (2011) and Not Over Yet (2013) are available for download on iTunes and Amazon.

Albany Down is the new voice of British rock music.  A blend of contemporary rock and blues with added brill iance on top.  See for yourself.

Dead27s
http://www.dead27s.com/
On their first-ever attempt at writing together, Dead 27s came up with a batch of songs that perfectly embody the Charleston-based band's powerfully charged blend of rock-and-soul. Sprung from an all-night songwriting session on the coast of Sout h Carolina, several of those songs made their way onto Dead 27s' acclaimed debut EP Chase Your Devils Down. With the rest of the tracks set to appear on the band's first full-length album (due out this year), Dead 27s have brought a sharp sense of songcraft to the loose but potent musicality that's propelled the band since the first time they shared a stage.

The earliest incarnation of the band came to life in spring 2012, when Francis, Mullinax, Evans and Goldstein teamed up for a set at a local festival. Although the four had never played together, they instantly felt an undeniable chemistry that turned what was meant to be a one-time collaboration into a series of shows and”once Crider joined the lineup”the eventual founding of the band. Seeking a name for the event, the band began to brainstorm ideas and decided to pay homage to the dead 27s, a group of musicians known for leaving an indelible mark on American music. The name stuck more for the appreciation of pushing musical boundaries and leaving nothing on the table at live shows, than a direct mirroring of any of the 27s club members sound.
In the music of Dead 27s, a mutual appreciation for early American blues (Johnson), psychedelic rock-and-roll (Hendrix), punk-minded modern rock (Cobain), and painfully charged soul (Winehouse) merges with a shared passion for pushing into new sonic terrain. In the making of Chase Your Devils Down, that meant forging a groove-powered sound that's gutsy and urgent but graced with a sophisticated lyrical sensibility. One of our goals is to take people on a ride, says Francis of Dead 27s' ever-shifting dynamic. We wanna smack you in the face with some heavy guitar, then take it down with something quieter and softer and much more intimate.

The emotional element of Chase Your Devils Down also proves complexly textured, with Dead 27s exploring themes of overcoming struggle in love and everyday living. All the songs are based on the idea that no matter what life throws at you”whether it's in your job, your relationships, or just struggles you may have internally”you've got to take what you can from the experience, and don't let it get the best of you, Francis says.

Released in spring 2014, Chase Your Devils Down earned Dead 27s the Charleston City Paper Music Awards' Song of the Year prize two years in a row, thanks to the breezy heart-on-sleeve R&B of Don't Want to Live My Life Without You and the riff-driven swagger of Don't Comfort Me. Since the EP's release, Dead 27s have also found themselves ranked in the top 24 of VH1's Make a Band Famous competition and touring with the likes of Galactic, The Revivalists, Earphunk, Marcus King Band and Tab Benoit.
For Dead 27s”who've fast gained a reputation as an incendiary live act”each show serves as a breeding ground for creativity and a vessel for sonic expansion. Fueled by their unabashed belief in delivering a kinetic, thrillingly unpredictable set night after night, the band revels in the transcendent imperfection that comes from fully immersing themselves in the moment. And more often than not, says Mullinax, those beautiful mistakes help guide the band to their next creative breakthrough. Playing a song live takes it out of the vacuum of the practice room, and provides a connection with an audience that informs how the song wi ll be used in the future, he points out.

With their following on the rise and the band supporting bigger acts and performing at larger festivals (including FloydFest this July), Dead 27s' love of playing live ultimately connected them with Ben Ellman, the Grammy nominated New Orleans-based producer and member of the funk/rock act Galactic. Ellman was enlisted as producer on their forthcoming full-length debut and”in creating the album”dedicated themselves to capturing the raw, untamable energy of their live show. With the new record, the one thing we knew for a fact was we didn't want to make it all shiny-clean”we wanted big guitars, big drums, a whole spectrum of feeling, notes Evans. The album also finds Dead 27s further broadening their sound by diving deeper into merging elements of psych-rock, throwback-soul and fuzz -funk. One of the coolest things about this band is we always want to evolve, try new things, go in new directions we haven't tried before, says Mullinax. It's what keeps the music fresh, and what keeps the whole experience exciting for everyone involved.

Critics are saying...

"Anyone who claims that rock and soul ain't what it used to be clearly hasn't heard of these stunning musicians. This will remind you of soul and blues from the late 60's with rock from the early 70's. But probably the most compelling quality of the Dead 27s is how seamlessly they stay true to the pure, old school rock and soul sounds while making their music cutting edge relevant to toda y's listeners."
JamSphere - 2015

"...Creative and timeless music with impassioned veracity...a refreshing blend of song-craft and musicianship..."
Terry Adams, Charleston Magazine, May 2014

"I want to hear it in an American-made car, with the top down, tearing down the highway...it's something special...a no frills straight forward rock and soul album that showcases the talents of one of Charleston's best live bands"
Devin Grant, Charleston Grit, May 2014

"...the album incorporates some delicious musical influences with a fresh approach that leaves you wanting more and h itting the replay button often."
Robert Loughry, Bright Lights Big City Talent Management, May 2014

"(Don't Want To Live My Life WIthout You)...comes off like a perfect hit ” it's catchy and infectious, yet so guilt-free that it could only be created by a band who bows down at the altar of Hendrix, but isn't afraid to write a pop song a la Mayer Hawthorne."
Stratton Lawrence, Charleston City Paper, March 06, 2013

"Dead 27s are developing their own sound, and they credit their own relaxed attitude, the ease with which they jam with each other, and the addition of the talented Trey Francis as major factors in shaping their latest original material."
Jared Bo oth, Charleston City Paper, August 01, 2012

Loudini Interviews FROOMADOR - 2016-06-20 06:38:38.623-04

Combining an acoustic sound with the electrical pulse of Indie Rock, Froomador's unique songwriting approach leaves room for the listener's own interpretation. His latest album, Can't This Wait includes the single Solar Energy for which there is a climatic music video that has been filmed in the Arizona desert, and has just been released in early 2016.

Orlando native Ryan Froom credits his passion for music to his father whom he watched simultaneously play the guitar and sing at church during his early childhood. By the age of 10 he had his first guitar and was 12 years old when he wrote his first song. His father introduced him to the The Doobie Brothers , Beach Boys", and The Beatles during his early teens in which Ryan also began to sensationalize the sport of surfing. Heavily influenced by the beachy tunes, Ryan acquired a palate for the soothing sounds of the ukulele, and began to incorporate them into his songs. During his early high school days, he recalls sneaking into his older brother's melancholy record collection and discovering the sound of The Cure , The Smiths , and Nirvana . It was then that Ryan also began to incorporate the electric guitar into his songwriting sessions.

At the age of 23, Ryan moved to Argentina and would spend the next eight months learning Spanish and being surrounded by Latin Jazz and Flamenco. By the age of 24, he lived a few months in Brazil where he would also learn to speak Portuguese and develop an interest in Brazilian samba and the sassy Latin tunes, inspiring him to write and record his album Pavement Ends several years later. In 2009, he enrolled in the prestigious school of music Berklee in Boston where he would focus on Jazz Composition and classical arrangements for the next year and a half.

Froomador has performed live in several cities including Hollywood and Claremont, CA, Washington D.C., and countless venues in his hometown Orlando, FL, where he currentl y resides. Along with the release of his album Can't This Wait , his performance schedule will also be announced.

Roving Pittsburgher Report, Le Corsaire A Pirate Saga with the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater Orchestra

My love affair with ballet begins with Le Corsaire. Friday April 15, 2016 was my second, live, full-scale, professional ballet theater experience. I was quickly seduced with its dynamic and explosive character, movement, and scenery. In contrast, I did not fall in love with ballet during my first experience during the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater's season opening performances showcasing William Forsythe's work. That stuff was way over my head, too modern and stark for my understanding as a novice ballet spectator. Le Corsairse's classic themes made it easy to sympathize with.

RovingPittsburgher, Roving Pittsburgher Report, Cirque de la Symphonie a Big Win in a Sports Town

Cirque de La Symphonie which performed with the Pittsburgh Symphony orchestra April 29 thru May 1, 2016 is a breathtaking bucket list addition if you have not seen it.  It is quite simply a marriage of exciting movement and music with unique elements of danger and comedy when the aerial hoop and aerial silk artists swing out over the symphony crowd.

The Loudini Rock 'n Roll Circus, Lou Lombardi

Let it Out by Flying Joes Review by Loudini

Based in Montral, Canada, Flying Joes evoke the raw power of pure 70?c??s rock, inspired by an authentic blues sensibility. Formed in January 2014, the trio of Syd Bedard (bass, vocals), JF Arsenault (guitar) and Thomas Brodeur (drums) has a contagious energy both live and on record. Bolstered by their modern rock sound, their festive roadtrip songs call to mind classic bands like Led Zeppelin and Cream.

New Roving Pittsburgher Reviews!

Roving Pittsburgher Report, A MODERN OPERA GERTRUDE STEIN AND ALICE TOBIAS THE TALK OF PARIS

Pittsburgh has many jewels in its cultural crown. One of the brightest jewels is the Pittsburgh Opera.  The 77th season began  with the Pittsburgh premiere of Ricky Ian Gordon's 27.  Spotlighting larger than life novelist, poet, playwright, and Pittsburgh native Gertrude Stein and her partner Alice B. Toklas27 will delight you with Ricky Ian Gordon's "tuneful score" and Royce Vavrek's "quick-witted libretto."

Roving Pittsburgher Report, Bridges of Madison County Harlequin Romance or Arthur and Guinevere?

The Bridges of Madison County that opened at the Benedum in Pittsburgh last night has the steaminess of a Harlequin Romance Novel touched with tragic illusions that date back to stories like Lancelot and Guinevere and serenendipitous lovers trapped by a chance meeting between passion, reality and honor. From a slow background start the musical wends its way through the audience's emotions like a rollercoaster between comedy, lust, broken dreams and soulful duets.  Stripped to their private thoughts, even the men in the audience would have to admit that the show tugged at their hearts and returned them to a chance encounter, a furtive one night stand or a glimpse into "what might have been."

Roving Pittsburgher Report, Guys & Dolls, A Showcase of Talent at PPT

When Pittsburgh Public Theater (PPT) produces a musical you are sure to be wowed.  This season, the American classic, Guys & Dolls will not disappoint.  An audience pleaser all around, Guys & Dolls is entertaining for both the musical maven as well as any theater novice.  Producing artistic director, the esteemed Ted Pappas, has covered all the bases to assure this performance is nothing less than stellar. Guys & Dolls is a must see.
