Coro Pittsburgh Mission & Vision

Mission: To advance ethical and effective leaders who share a commitment to civic engagement. We are building a leadership pipeline to foster collaboration within and across Pittsburgh's business, nonprofit, and government sectors.

Vision: We envision an inclusive democracy in which people of different backgrounds, views and sectors engage in their communities and work together constructively to improve the quality of life for all.

Core Values:

Experiential Learning - Continuously reflect on experience, welcome feedback from others, and keep an open mind to new ways of thinking or doing.

Building Relationships - Through inclusive dialogue and constructive action, foster relationships that help bring about a better quality of life for all.

Diversity - Learn from, work together with, and respect people of different points of view. Help create an environment of inclusion.

Whole Systems Thinking - Stand back to view the whole picture, even while taking part in the action. Look below the surface for interconnections and patterns among different events, issues and people.

Teamwork for Results - Mobilize people to move from inclusive dialogue to constructive actions that fulfill short and long-term goals.

Nurturing Leadership in Others - Engage people by helping them realize and act upon their strengths.

Program Outcomes include:
  • Enhanced professional and community leadership skills
  • Ability to effectively involve all sectors to address issues by understanding, building and leveraging networks
  • Engagement in a network of community leaders dedicated to creating positive change for the women of southwestern Pennsylvania
  • Accomplishment of a year-long personal strategic plan with the support of a coach

Do you know a woman who would be an excellent candidate for the WIL program?  Nominate her today! Nominations can be made on line at http://pittsburgh.coro.org/nominate Contact Kelsey Halling at 412-208-0251 or khalling@coropittsburgh.org with any questions on the WIL program.

On November 30, Coro Pittsburgh will be hosting a professional networking event for the Alumnae of the Women in Leadership Program. WIL Power offers the opportunity not only for networking, but for WIL alumni to reconnect, share, and introduce prospective WIL candidates. Please come and enjoy refreshments while you support a great cause with strong female leaders. WIL Power originally started as the class project of WIL VIII. This event has become an annual tradition for our WIL graduates.  The event is open to the public, with a suggested donation of $10 for the Karen Myres Scholarship Fund.
