Mary Pellegrini - Founder of F. Tambellini
Mary started her first job at her relatives bakery, Barsotti's Bakery in South Side as a broom sweeper. She was 12 years old. She later becomes the Bakery General Manager of operations. Barsotti's Bakery was the leading Italian Bakery's in the Pittsburgh area. A few years after Mary's Departure from the Bakery it went out of business. She also worked on a limited basis at her Uncle's Place (Frank Tambellini) & was the Full-time book keeper for him. Upon leaving Barsotti's after 36 years of service she took over part ownership and management of F. Tambellini Restaurant. The restaurant maintains the stature it now has largely because of Mary's leadership. She always promotes the foodservice business, and is very vocal with politician's concerning issue's of the foodservice business. Mary is truly one of the veterans of the foodservice business and one of the great women leaders of the foodservice business.
In 1997 Mary wins the lifetime achievement for women in foodservice The Panache Lifetime Achievement Award!
Charles Pellegrini - Owner/Operator
Graduated in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 1981. Worked as a management trainee in the Power & Fuel division, at the Homestead Works of United States Steel. Also worked at United Engineering (Wean United) who were mill designers for steel mills. Charles Pellegrini earns his 2nd bachelors degree from the University of Las Vegas in Nevada in Hotel Administration in 1988. Returns to work at F. Tambellini Restaurant full time in 1988. Passes the Court of Master Sommeliers beginners test. Joins the board of directors of the Western Pennsyvannia Restaurant association to become 1st Vice President, and several years as Chairman of Governmental Affairs. Wins the prestigious keystone award from the Western Chapter of the Pennsylvannia Restaurant Association (WCPRA). We can't forget Nello! More to come!!!
Janet Pellegrini-Owner/CEO-Creative Energy Officer
Janet Jackson Pellegrini is a Speaker, Lector and Choir member in her church. She is a restaurant Owner, Manager and Secretary and is a Kung Fu Martial Artist. Janet is a former member of the xylophone company The All City Bell Aires and played the flute in the South Hills Catholic Marching Band while attending St. Francis Academy. Janet met her husband Charlie when he was a drummer in her Majorette Company, the Twirl-a-tons and again in South Hills Catholic Band. They didn't date at the time, but Janet and Charlie re-met ten years after graduation at his restaurant, F. Tambellini's Downtown Pittsburgh originator of Pittsburgh's Legendary Zucchini Appetizer, which was founded by Charlie's Mother, Mary Tambellini Pellegrini in 1950. Janet left her career as a Medical Lab Technician at Mercy's Critical Care Lab to marry Charlie and raise a family. Janet and Charlie run the restaurant together now and have two teen age children whom they closely mentor. They are a skilled business family and have extensive knowledge in investing in business and real estate for profits. They are still making beautiful music together. Buon Appetito, Janet
